MLB Predictions: Will Gibson lead the Twins past the Royals? 9/7/17

Twins vs. Royals Prediction

Will the Minnesota Twins be able to go on the road and pick up a win over the Kansas City Royals when the two meet up this evening at 8:15PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Twins are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -115 to win, while the Royals are listed with a money line of -105 to win. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 9.5 runs. Kansas City has won three of their last four against the Twins.

Tonight’s pitching matchup has Kyle Gibson (9-10, 5.33 ERA) on the mound for the Twins to face Sam Gaviglio of the Royals. Gibson is coming off one of his best starts, going six scoreless against the Royals last week. Gibson has 95 strikeouts this season with 52 walks and a 1.61 WHIP. Gaviglio is making his first start from the Royals. He has pitched in 12 games this season for Seattle, posting a 4.62 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP. He has 40 strikeouts this season with 21 walks.

Minnesota snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday night against the Rays with a 10-6 win. The Twins are 72-67 overall this season and 37-30 on the road. The Twins are putting up 4.95 runs this season while allowing 4.98 per game. Minnesota is being led by Brian Dozier, who has 29 home runs and 80 RBI this season. Joe Mauer is adding 30 doubles with 56 RBI and a .302 average.

Kansas City has won three of its last four games, including a series win over the Tigers this week. KC is now 69-69 overall on the year and 36-32 at home. The Royals are scoring just 4.37 runs per contest in 2017 while giving up 4.88 per game. Eric Hosmer has 25 doubles, 23 home runs and 82 RBI for the Royals. Mike Moustakas has added 36 home runs and 81 RBI, but he is dealing with a knee injury that has him questionable for tonight.

Bet on Twins vs. Royals

Kyle Gibson hasn’t had a good year, but he has done well against the Royals. About as well against them as he has against anyone else. In three starts, Gibson has a 3.31 ERA against KC with a 1-0 record. Even if he’s not great, he’s pitching well enough to give the Twins a chance to win. KC could be without its biggest power bat in Moustakas, so that won’t help their cause. I like the Twins to get the nod tonight on the road.
