From Rotoworld: Leake wasn’t involved in the decision after allowing two runs in seven innings Wednesday against the Red Sox. Leake is still sitting pretty with a 2.03 ERA, but he has given up four homers in his last three starts after going without one in his first five. We all know Leake isn’t really a 2.00-ERA kind of guy.
Hill (blister) yielded one run on six hits over five innings while taking a no-decision in Tuesday’s loss to the Giants. Hill made his last start exactly a month before his Tuesday showing against the Giants. An ever-pesky blister issue sidelined him from action for four weeks. In his return to the mound, he struck out six and did not walk a batter. He threw 82 pitches (53 strikes) in the outing. Brandon Belt took him deep for a short home run to right, one which required a replay to confirm, but Hill was otherwise able to keep the rival Giants off the scoreboard over his five innings of work.
Bet Tonight’s Cardinals vs. Dodgers Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Cardinals have won four of Leake’s last five road starts and are 5-1 in his last six starts against National League West competition. The Dodgers, meanwhile, have lost all four of Hill’s last four starts coming off seven or more days of rest. With how good Leake has pitched this year for the Cardinals, the club is worth a gamble as an underdog.
