Latest on Rotoworld: Garza (chest) will be activated from the disabled list to start Wednesday in St. Louis. Garza landed on the DL last week with a chest contusion following a collision with teammate Jesus Aguilar, but he’s ready to go now. The veteran right-hander holds a 3.83 ERA over eight starts this season for the Brew Crew.
Leake surrendered three runs — two earned — and 10 hits in five innings Thursday in a loss to the Reds. Leake was able to pitch out of a couple of jams in the first four innings, but his old team finally got to him in the fifth, scoring all three runs then. The Cards opted to pinch-hit for him in the bottom of the inning rather than send him back out for what likely would have been one more frame (he was at 86 pitches). Leake now has a 5-5 record to go along with his fine 2.70 ERA.
