From Rotoworld: Hendricks pitched well but took a loss Friday, yielding three runs over seven frames against the Nationals. The longball did him in, and it was Daniel Murphy that got him both times, as the Nationals’ second baseman hit a two-run shot and a solo blast off of Hendricks. They were two of just five hits on the day that the right permitted, and he walked two and struck out five. Hendricks hasn’t picked up a win in any of his three starts since returning from the disabled list, but he’s pitched pretty well each time out. He gets the Giants on the road next.
Bumgarner fell to 1-5 after allowing two runs in seven innings Friday against the Diamondbacks. If he hasn’t already, Bumgarner is going to be lobbying Bruce Bochy to hit higher in the lineup in his starts. Tonight’s game was the fourth time in his nine starts this season that the Giants scored one or no runs. They’ve totaled just two in two others. That’s what it takes to produce a 1-5 record along with a 2.88 ERA.
Bet Today’s Cubs vs. Giants Game
OUR PREDICTION: Following their victory last night over the Cubs, the Giants are now 7-2 in their last nine games against the National League Central and despite having an awful season, are 9-3 in their last 12 home games versus a team with a winning record. San Francisco has also fared well when Bumgarner faces the Cubs, winning five straight when he squares off against Chicago and is 6-1 in his last seven home starts versus the Cubbies. Chicago, meanwhile, is 1-4 in Hendrick’s last five starts coming off four days of rest and is 1-7 in its last eight games when facing a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.
