From Rotoworld: Koehler was pummeled for seven runs — three earned — in 1 2/3 innings in a loss to the Brewers on Thursday. He made it through the first inning unscathed but was brutalized in the second. He faced 13 batters before being yanked off the mound mid-inning. He allowed two walks, five singles, a homer and threw a wild pitch in that one partial frame alone. Luckily for his fantasy owners an error by Dee Gordon caused four of the runs to be unearned. Koehler has been hopelessly ineffective this season as his 7.43 ERA in nine starts attests.
Wacha struck out nine over six scoreless innings Saturday, earning the win over the Nationals. Wacha gave up just four hits, a double and three singles, and he walked just one in the outing. It was his second strong showing in as many starts, helping calm, if only until his next outing, concerns that surrounded him after his swoon in late May and early June. Wacha now has a 4.16 ERA and 1.43 WHIP through 15 starts overall, improving to 5-3 with the win. He’ll try to stay hot Thursday when the Cardinals host the Marlins.
