From Rotoworld: Pivetta struck out 10 batters and turned in a quality start but did not earn a decision against the Cardinals on Wednesday. He surrendered three runs in six innings and allowed just four base hits but two of them left the yard. He gave up a solo shot to Tommy Pham and a two-run bomb to Jedd Gyorko to account for all the damage on the scoreboard. The 24-year-old rookie has a 4.46 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings spread across eight starts. He had a 1.41 ERA in five starts at Triple-A earlier this year.
Montero will start Sunday against the Phillies. Montero was expected to lose his spot in the rotation upon Zack Wheeler’s return from the disabled list but a hamstring injury to Robert Gsellman bought him more time. On the surface it looks like a favorable matchup for Montero, though he allowed four runs in only 1/3 of an inning when he faced the Phils back on April 18.
