deGrom allowed just one (unearned) run over eight innings Sunday in the Mets’ 5-1 defeat of the Nationals. He was not only brilliant on the mound but also slugged his first career home run in the second inning off opposing starter Joe Ross to tie the game at 1-1. The right-hander yielded just three hits and two walks while striking out six Mets hitters. He boasts a 6-3 record, 3.94 ERA, and 106/36 K/BB ratio in 89 innings (14 starts) this season. (Rotoworld)
Cueto posted a quality start in Monday’s loss to the Braves, allowing two runs on five hits over seven strong innings. Cueto fanned four and didn’t issue a walk in the ballgame. Ender Inciarte lined an RBI double against him in the third inning and Matt Adams added on a solo homer in the fourth. As good as he was though, R.A. Dickey was simply better on Monday night and shut down the Giants. Now 5-7 on the year Cueto will bring a 4.42 ERA and 1.30 WHIP into Saturday’s start against the Mets.
Bet Tonight’s Mets vs. Giants Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Mets are 7-3 in deGrom’s last 10 starts, are 16-7 in his last 23 outings coming off five days of rest, and have won four of his last five road starts versus a team with a losing record. On the other side, the Giants are just 1-8 in their last nine home games, are 1-8 in their last nine games coming off a loss, and are 7-23 in their last 30 games overall. I don’t care who is on the mound for San Francisco, the Giants are great fade material right now.
