From Rotoworld: Strasburg struggled in a no-decision against the Braves on Monday, allowing six runs on seven hits across five innings. The hard-throwing right-hander has a history of poor performances in the extreme heat, and this muggy night in Washington proved to be no different. All of the damage against him was done via the long ball, with Nick Markakis and Matt Kemp going back-to-back in the first inning and Matt Adams adding on a three-run shot in the third. Despite the poor effort, he had been in line for a victory until Matt Albers blew a save in the ninth inning. On the plus side for fantasy owners, he still managed to rack up 10 strikeouts while walking only one. He’s set to take on the Mets in New York on Saturday.
Making his season debut, Seth Lugo fired off seven innings of one-run ball in Sunday’s 2-1 win over the Braves. Lugo struck out six and walked two while scattering six hits in what was a crisp first start of the campaign. He missed the first two-plus months of the season while rehabbing from a partially torn UCL suffered in spring training. The 27-year-old right-hander’s place in the Mets rotation will be sorted out over the coming days. He could potentially bump Robert Gsellman out of the starting five.
Bet Today’s Nationals vs. Mets Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Nationals are a perfect 5-0 in Strasburg’s last five road starts versus the Mets and have won nine of his last 13 outings versus New York overall. Washington is also 7-2 in its last nine games versus the Mets and 44-14 in its last 58 road games versus New York. The Mets, meanwhile, have dropped seven of 10 at home and are just 1-7 in their last eight games when facing a starter that owns a WHIP of less than 1.15.
