From Rotoworld: Conley took the loss Friday against the Braves after allowing four runs (three earned) over 5 1/3 innings. Conley held the Braves to one run through his first five innings before things fell apart in the sixth. The big blow was a go-ahead three-run homer from Nick Markakis. Conley struck out two, walked one, and had two hit-by-pitches in the loss. While this outing ended on a sour note, the southpaw has looked much better since returning from the minors.
Gonzalez carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning Monday in the Nationals’ 1-0 win over the Marlins. Dee Gordon broke it up with a leadoff single to center field and Nationals manager Dusty Baker promptly turned to his bullpen with Gonzalez sitting at 106 pitches. The left-hander walked three batters and plunked one while striking out five over his eight shutout frames. He’s been tremendous this season for first-place Washington, now boasting a 2.66 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 132/58 K/BB ratio over 142 1/3 innings. Up next is a road start against the Cubs.
