OUR PREDICTION
Since being traded to Washington before the 2012 season, Gonzalez has owned the Mets on the money line. He has posted a 16-6 record over that time span versus New York, which is his most profitable ML opponent. Gonzalez is also coming off an excellent 2018 debut, allowing just one run while striking out seven and walking just one batter versus the Reds. Yes, they are somewhat expensive but I love the Nats in this spot. They’re 16-5 in Gonzalez’s last six home starts versus the Mets, are 5-2 in his last seven outings against divisional opponents, and are 9-4 in his last 13 outings when facing an opponent with a winning record. The Mets, meanwhile, are winless in Matz’s last five road starts dating back to last year, are 1-10 in his last 11 starts versus an opponent with a winning record, and are 7-21 in his last 28 outings overall.
