From Rotoworld: Scherzer went the distance and fanned 11 in the Nationals’ 3-1 win over the Giants on Wednesday. Scherzer needed just 100 pitches to throw his first complete game since his 20-strikeout game against the Tigers last May 11. He’s 6-3 with a 2.56 ERA and an NL-leading 100 strikeouts.
McCarthy (blister) is expected to make his next scheduled start Tuesday versus the Nationals after throwing a bullpen session Sunday. McCarthy was pulled from his last outing after four innings in part due to a blister on his right index finger, but the situation appears to be manageable. The righty has been very good this season, but he’s got a tough matchup in his one scheduled start for the upcoming week.
