The right-hander scattered three hits and a pair of walks in the contest. The only damage against him came on a solo homer off the bat of Ryan Schimpf in the fourth inning. He made a bit for his first complete game of the season, but he was lifted after hitting Ryan Schimpf to load the bases with two outs in the inning. Scherzer now boasts a 2.77 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 89/18 K/BB ratio across 68 1/3 innings on the season.
Cain allowed two runs – one earned – with seven hits and a walk over seven innings in a loss against the Braves on Friday. Cain threw 64 of his 92 pitches for strikes while recording three punchouts. After an impressive 2-0 record with a 2.30 ERA in five April starts he has stumbled to a 1-3 mark and 6.59 ERA in five outings in the month of May. Walks have done him in so far in May, as he has 15 walks with just 14 strikeouts across 27 1/3 innings.

OUR PREDICTION: Both Scherzer and Cain should have success tonight. The under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings between these two teams in San Francisco and is 15-5-1 in the last 21 meetings overall. Cain has been great at home and Scherzer has been great, period, so look for a low-scoring game tonight at spacious AT&T Park.
