From Rotoworld: Gonzalez spun 8 1/3 scoreless innings in a 5-0 win over the Reds on Friday. Gonzalez was pulled after getting Joey Votto to fly out to begin the ninth inning. The southpaw gave up just four hits on the night (three of them singles) while walking two and striking out six. The strong outing brought his ERA down to 2.66 for the year, which is good enough for third in the NL behind teammate Max Scherzer and Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw.
Meyer will be called up to start for the Angels on Wednesday against the Nationals. Meyer was optioned to the minors on July 4 after registering a 4.18 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 68/41 K/BB ratio in 60 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old right-hander is not a recommended fantasy streamer versus the first place team in the National League East.

OUR PREDICTION: The Nationals have won six straight on the road, six straight overall, and are 5-1 in Gonzalez’s last six road starts. On the other side, the Angels have dropped eight of their last 11 games overall, are 1-4 in their last five home games, and are 2-6 in Meyer’s last eight starts. Gonzalez has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season and the Nationals are hot. Plus, they’re offered tonight at a relatively cheap price.
