From Rotoworld: Strasburg mowed down the Padres in epic fashion on Saturday, racking up 15 strikeouts while firing seven shutout innings in a 3-0 victory. He set a new career high in strikeouts. He struck out 14 in his first major league game back in 2010. This comes a day after Max Scherzer fanned 13 Padres in yesterday’s game. Strasburg allowed just three base hits, all singles, and issued one free pass. He singled and scored the game’s first run (and the only one he needed) in the third inning. His record improves to 6-1 with a 2.94 ERA through 10 starts. He has amassed 74 strikeouts against just 18 walks in 67 1/3 innings. He is now tied for seventh in the majors in strikeouts.
Triggs allowed six runs — one earned — over six innings Sunday as the A’s fell to the Yankees. Aaron Judge slugged a grand slam off Triggs in the bottom of the third inning that was preceded by a Matt Joyce fielding error. Triggs gave up six total hits and walked one while striking out three. He’ll carry a cool 5-4 record and 2.64 ERA into his next start at home versus the Nationals.
