From Rotoworld: Ross scattered five hits and two runs over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision Thursday against the Cubs. Ross struck out seven and walked three while throwing 62 of his 92 pitches for strikes. The right-hander pitched brilliantly on Thursday and even had a good day at the plate with a double off Jon Lester. Unfortunately Blake Treinen couldn’t hold a two-run lead in the ninth inning and the Nats eventually lost 5-4. Ross will take a 5.12 ERA into his next outing Tuesday against the Mets.
Lugo allowed three runs — two earned — over six innings in a win over the Marlins on Thursday. Lugo gave up six hits and a walk, striking out four in the win. In four starts since coming off the disabled list June 11, he’s now 3-1 with a 3.55 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. A stiff test will come Tuesday when the Mets travel to the nation’s capital to face the first-place Nationals.
