From Rotoworld: Asher pitched well in Friday’s win over the Red Sox, allowing two runs on three hits over 6 1/3 innings. Asher struck out five and didn’t walk a batter in the ballgame. It was a terrific bounce-back effort for the right-hander after he was shelled by the Astros on Sunday. He’ll carry a 3.62 ERA and 1.10 WHIP into Thursday’s start against the Nationals in Washington.
Ross will start Thursday’s makeup game against the Orioles. Ross was torched for seven runs — six earned — over just three innings in a loss to the A’s last weekend and Nationals manager Dusty Baker suggested after the game that the young right-hander’s spot in the MLB rotation might again be in jeopardy. He needs to pitch better Thursday night versus the visiting O’s.
