Giants vs. Padres Prediction
Will the Padres upset the Giants to kick off their second half tonight at 10:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Padres are +100 money line underdogs to pull off the upset versus the Giants, who are -120. With Johnny Cueto set to face Clayton Richard in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8 runs.

Latest on Cueto via Rotoworld: Cueto yielded six earned runs over six innings Sunday in a no-decision versus the Marlins. San Francisco wound up falling to Miami in 11 innings, with reliever George Kontos taking the loss. Cueto, who was scratched from his last start due to an inner-ear infection, surrendered six hits and issued six walks while striking out only two batters. He closes out the first half of the 2017 season with a disappointing 4.51 ERA in 111 2/3 innings.
Richard allowed a lone run over six innings before a rain delay forced his premature exit, leaving him with a no-decision Friday against the Phillies. It wasn’t only the rain that spoiled Richard’s gem — reliever Phil Maton, who came on after the southpaw’s exit, promptly gave up two runs to surrender Richard’s lead. It didn’t take away from the strong start, though, as Richard gave up only a solo homer over his six innings of work. The good showing leaves the 33-year-old with a 5-8 record, 4.66 ERA and 1.48 WHIP heading into next week’s All-Star break.
Bet Tonight’s Giants vs. Padres Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Padres are 4-1 in Richard’s last five starts against the Giants, who are just 3-7 in their last 10 games inS an Diego and 4-12 in their last 16 games overall versus the Pads. San Francisco has dropped four of Cueto’s last five starts, is 0-4 in its last four games, and is 1-4 in its last five road games versus a left-handed starter. The Padres, meanwhile, are 5-2 in their last seven games, are 4-0 in Richard’s last four starts coming off six or more days of rest, and are 9-3 in their last 12 games versus a right-handed starter. Still, even given those trends, I like the Giants to start off on the right foot in the second half. They’re a much better team than their record indicates and I wouldn’t be surprised if they finished with a winning record in the second half. That starts tonight with Cueto on the hill.
