From Rotoworld: Making his first start since being traded over to the Padres, Wood surrendered two runs on two hits over six innings in Friday’s win over the Pirates. Wood was shipped over to the Padres from the Royals at the beginning of the week. While he struggled to a 6.91 ERA in 29 appearances over in the American League, he made a nice first impression in Friday’s outing, striking out seven and walking one. Outside of a two-run home run surrendered to Andrew McCutchen, Wood kept the scoreboard clean over his six innings of work. He will look for more of the same in a home start against these same Pirates next time he toes the rubber.
Nova allowed four earned runs and eight hits with six strikeouts across five innings in a loss Saturday in San Diego. Nova is 0-2 with a 9.90 ERA in two games on the road trip, and he has dropped four of his past five starts away from home. The good news is his next start will come in the Steel City in a rematch against the Padres next Friday night. He is much better at home, going 7-2 with a 2.83 ERA over nine starts at PNC Park.
