Phillies vs. Cardinals Prediction
Will the Phillies avoid being swept this afternoon in St. Louis when they visit the Cardinals one more time at 2:15PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cardinals are -135 money line favorites to knock off the Phillies, who have odds of +115 to pull off the upset in St. Louis today. With Aaron Nola set to face Adam Wainwright in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 8.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Nola was brilliant over eight innings of one-run ball in Atlanta Tuesday in the Phillies’ 3-1 victory. The Philly right-hander surrendered just five hits on the night, and four of them were singles. He walked only one, struck out six and needed a mere 97 pitches to complete his eight frames. Nola had been shaky in his last two outings and has generally been hit-or-miss this season, so this was a welcomed showing.
Wainwright was clubbed for nine runs over just 3 2/3 innings in Tuesday’s loss to the Reds. Yikes. Wainwright had been on quite a run of late with just one run allowed over his last four starts, but he didn’t have it in this one. Scooter Gennett blasted a grand slam off of him in the third, which was one of seven hits he allowed. He also walked three.
Bet Today’s Phillies vs. Cardinals Game
OUR PREDICTION: While Nola is coming off his best outing of the season, Wainwright is coming off his worst. Nola appears to be getting into a bit of a groove and even though the Cardinals have won back-to-back games, their offense still remains in a deep funk. St. Louis is 2-7 in its last nine games overall and winless in tis last five games after scoring five runs or more in its previous contest. I like Nola over Wainwright and with Philly receiving plus odds, I’ll roll the dice on the underdog.
