MLB Predictions: Will Phillies vs. Angels be low-scoring Wednesday? 8/2/17

Phillies vs. Angels Prediction

Will tonight’s Phillies and Angels matchup be low-scoring when the two teams meet at 10:07PM ET tonight?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Angels are -200 money line favorites versus the Phillies, who have odds of +165 to pull off the upset. With Jake Thompson set to face JC Ramirez in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9 runs.

From Rotoworld: Thompson earned his first victory of the season on Friday, firing five scoreless innings against the Braves. Thompson struck out five and walked two on the night. He was pressed into emergency action when Jeremy Hellickson was scratched and stepped up in a big way, scattering five hits on the night. If he remains in the club’s rotation, he’ll take on the Angels in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Ramirez managed to hold the Indians to two runs over six innings in spite of six walks but still took a loss Thursday. The six free passes were a season high for Ramirez, who has generally had good control this year but it’s wavered on him of late. It could be a function of him tiring in his first year as a starter since 2011. Ramirez will carry a 4.29 ERA into his next start against the Phillies.

Bet Today’s Phillies vs. Angels Game

OUR PREDICTION: The under is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams, is 4-1 in their last five games in Los Angeles, and is 7-2-1 in the Angels’ last 10 home games. On the other side, the under is 10-4-1 in the Phillies’ last 15 games versus a team with a losing record and is 21-10-3 in their last 34 games versus a right-handed starter.

WEDNESDAY MLB PREDICTION: PHILLIES/ANGELS UNDER 9
