From Rotoworld: Taillon scattered seven hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings in a win over the Rays on Thursday. Taillon gave up a pair of doubles among his seven hits allowed but nothing more serious, keeping the Rays off-balance enough to keep them off the scoreboard. The win improved him to 4-2 with a 2.97 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 10 starts. He’s been especially good since coming back from testicular cancer, allowing just six runs over 22 1/3 innings of work. A tasty matchup with the Phillies is on tap for Tuesday.
Leiter allowed four runs on nine hits over five innings while taking a no-decision in Wednesday’s win over the Mariners. The home run ball plagued Leiter in this one, with Kyle Seager and Danny Valencia both taking him deep in the fourth inning for solo shots and Robinson Cano doing likewise in the fifth. Leiter struck out six without walking a batter in the outing. With Jerad Eickhoff (back) nearing a return to the rotation, he might not see another start in the short term.
