From Rotoworld: Lamet allowed just two earned runs, two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over six innings in a win against the Pirates on Saturday. Lamet threw 68 of his 104 pitches to move to 5-4, giving him wins in back-to-back starts. He also has five quality starts over his past seven outings. The rookie will get another crack at the Pirates next Saturday, this time at PNC Park opposition Gerrit Cole.
Cole was dominant in Sunday’s victory over the Padres, striking out eight over seven innings of one-run ball. Cole scattered five hits and a pair of walks on the afternoon. The only blemish on his day came on a solo homer by Dusty Coleman in the seventh inning. The right-hander has pitched well in each of his last five starts and now sports a 3.97 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 120/33 K/BB ratio across 133 2/3 innings on the season. He’ll look to replicate this fine effort when he takes on these Padres again at home on Saturday.
