MLB Predictions: Will Rangers vs. Angels be high-scoring? 8/22/17

Rangers vs. Angels Prediction

Will tonight’s American League West matchup between the Rangers and Angels be high-scoring for bettors at 10:07PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Angels are -150 money line favorites versus the Rangers, who have odds of +130 to pull off the upset in L.A. With Tyson Ross set to face Ricky Nolasco in the pitching matchup, the over/under currently sits at 9.5 runs.

From Rotoworld: Ross walked six and allowed five runs — three earned — in his 4 1/3 innings of work Thursday against the White Sox. Ross actually issued more walks (6) than he allowed hits (5) in the contest, failing to stick around long enough to qualify for what would have been his fourth win. Instead, he remains 3-2 with an unsightly 7.02 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in nine starts this year. Nobody expected brilliance from the 30-year-old in his return from serious shoulder issues, but there were certainly higher hopes than this for Ross this season. He’ll get back at it Tuesday against the Angels.

Nolasco left his start Wednesday against the Nationals with a trainer. Nolasco was pulled with a 2-2 count on Jose Lobaton, though his pitch total was up to 112 so it might not have been injury-related. The right-hander allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks over 5 2/3 innings versus Washington. Anaheim had a 3-2 lead when he departed.

Bet Tonight’s Rangers vs. Angels Game

OUR PREDICTION: The over has cashed in seven of the last 10 meetings between these two teams. It is also 3-0-1 in Ross’ last four starts and is 4-0 in his last four outings coming off four days of rest. On the other side, the over is 4-1-1 in Nolasco’s last six starts overall and is 4-1-1 in his last six outings after allowing five runs or more in their previous game.
