From Rotoworld: Cobb fired seven innings of one-run ball Wednesday in the Rays’ 5-1 victory over the Orioles. Cobb allowed just one walk and four hits while racking up six strikeouts in the easy-looking 94-pitch effort. The one run he gave up came on a solo homer by Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop in the top of the fourth inning. Cobb has run into a couple of rough patches this season, but he owns a cool 3.46 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 90/34 K/BB ratio in 138 innings overall and he’s been especially sharp over his last four outings. A road test against the first-place Astros is up next.
Morton notched nine strikeouts across seven scoreless innings in Tuesday’s 5-0 victory over the Phillies. The Phils managed just three base knocks off of the right-hander, and Morton walked only one batter to go along with his nine punchouts. It’s the third time this season that he’s gone seven innings and the fourth time that Morton has recorded at least nine strikeouts. Morton has pitched quite well, but his rotation spot could be vulnerable with Dallas Keuchel (neck) due back this weekend.
