Latest from Rotoworld: Bergman was pummeled for 10 runs and 14 hits in four innings by the Nationals on Tuesday. Bergman as coming off a start in which he pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out nine against the A’s. Tonight, he struck out none and gave up four homers. He might be bumped from the rotation if James Paxton can return next week as hoped.
Porcello picked up his third win after allowing five runs — four earned — and 11 hits in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Rangers. Porcello has been anything but stellar of late, but this would have gone down as a quality start had John Farrell lifted him after six innings. Instead, Farrell pressed his luck and was fortunate that Porcello was charged with just two runs after four of the five Rangers to bat against him reached base. If nothing else, Porcello has gone six innings in nine of his 10 starts. He has a fine 62/12 K/BB ratio in 62 innings, but he leads the AL with 77 hits allowed.
