From Rotoworld: Fister yielded three runs over five innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Friday. Fister gave up a three-run shot to Justin Smoak in the first inning, but he settled down from there. All told, he allowed four hits and three walks while striking out five. He exited in position for the victory before the Blue Jays evened things up on a Troy Tulowitzki solo homer in the sixth. Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) was shaky in his most recent rehab start, so Fister figures to stick in the rotation for the time being.
X-rays turned up negative on Cashner’s right forearm. Cashner was struck on the throwing arm by a broken bat during his start Thursday afternoon in Cleveland, but he escaped that frightening moment with a minor contusion. He should be able to take his next turn in the Rangers’ rotation. Cashner allowed five earned runs over five innings Thursday against the Indians, falling to 3-7 on the year.
