From Rotoworld: Making his return from the disabled list, Rodriguez gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings Monday in a no-decision against the Blue Jays. Rodriguez struck out eight, but he also walked four and his velocity decreased over the course of his outing. He was impressive in his rehab stint, so it doesn’t seem like he needed another minor league start. It just wasn’t quite pre-knee injury form tonight.
Paxton fired seven innings of one-run ball Wednesday in the Mariners’ 4-1 victory over the Astros. Paxton cruised through the toughest lineup in the American League, scattering six hits and a walk while striking out seven. The one run against him came on a George Springer sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third. Paxton, 28, is now 9-3 with a 3.05 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 107/31 K/BB ratio in 94 1/3 innings this season, positioning himself as one of the top starters in the American League. He’ll get the Red Sox at home next week.
