From Rotoworld: Castillo gave up two runs in 5 2/3 innings and took a no-decision versus the Brewers on Wednesday. His second major-league start was an impressive one. Featuring triple-digit velocity he struck out nine batters, walked three and surrendered five base hits. Ryan Braun took him deep for a solo shot, and Stephen Vogt was robbed of a three-run bomb when Scott Schebler climbed the wall to make an acrobatic catch in right field in the second inning. The 24-year-old Castillo was obtained in the Dan Straily trade with the Marlins over the winter. He stands a good chance of remaining in the Reds’ rotation as their staff has been decimated by injuries this year. He has a 3.38 ERA with 14 strikeouts and eight walks in 10 2/3 innings.
Hoffman allowed two earned runs, six hits and three walks with six strikeouts across 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision Tuesday in San Francisco. Hoffman threw 66 of his 97 pitches for strikes. While he was unable to pick up a win for the third consecutive outing, Hoffman was much better with his first quality start during the span. His next scheduled start is set for Monday against the Reds, and he’ll make a second start in the upcoming week at home against the White Sox. It’s looking like Hoffman could be quite the two-start sleeper next week.
