Chatwood was lit up for six earned runs over just 4 1/3 innings Monday in the Rockies’ loss to the Mariners. Chatwood gave up just one hit and struck out eight batters over seven shutout innings in his last start Wednesday versus the Phillies, but Monday was a very different experience for the 27-year-old right-hander. He walked three, gave up seven hits, and tallied only three strikeouts. Chatwood stands 4-7 on the year with a 5.04 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.
Chacin struggled in a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday, allowing three runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings. On the positive side, Chacin did rack up six strikeouts on the afternoon while walking two. He has been extremely inconsistent this season, especially away from home, and now sports a troublesome 5.77 ERA and 1.46 WHIP on the season. He’ll try to get back in the win column on Saturday against the Rockies.
