Indians vs. Tigers Pick
Will the Detroit Tigers close out their four-game series with the Cleveland Indians on a high note when the two meet today at 1:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bodava.lv, the Indians are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -120 to win. The Tigers are listed with a money line of +110 to win at home. The over/under total for the game is set at 7.5 runs.

Today’s pitching matchup features Michael Fulmer (2-1, 3.19 ERA) on the mound for the Tigers to face Danny Salazar (2-2, 4.34) of the Indians. Fulmer has been pretty steady coming off his Rookie of the Year honor in 2016. He has went at least six innings in all five starts, allowing no more than three runs. He has 26 strikeouts with nine walks in 31 innings of work and his WHIP is just 1.00. Salazar hasn’t been quite as strong. He has yet to get past 6.1 innings this season and he has given up 14 earned runs in 29 innings. His WHIP is at 1.38 after allowing 14 walks. However, he does have 42 strikeouts.
Cleveland picked up a 3-2 win over Detroit on Wednesday night. The Indians have taken just two of six meetings with the Tigers this season. The Tigers are now 14-13 overall and 9-7 at home while the Indians are 15-12 overall and 9-6 on the road.
Wednesday’s game was a pitching duel, as the two teams combined for just 12 hits. Matt Boyd went 7.2 innings and allowed just five hits but took the loss for the Tigers. Carlos Carrasco lasted six innings, allowing two runs with five strikeouts to get the win. A two-run triple from Jose Ramirez proved to be the big hit in the game, as it sparked a four-run third inning for the Indians.
I am surprised to see the Tigers as an underdog today given how consistent Fulmer has been. While Salazar hasn’t been far off, he has been shaky on the road, with two outings where he has given up four earned runs. Salazar may get some strikeouts on this Detroit lineup, but the Tigers have still been good at producing runs at home. Fulmer should keep the Cleveland lineup from doing much damage, so look for the Tigers to hold off the Indians late for a victory.
