From Rotoworld: Gonzalez allowed three runs over six innings in a loss to the Braves on Thursday. Gio gave up seven hits, including a Kurt Suzuki solo homer, while walking two in the quality start. He also struck out six, giving him 110 strikeouts in 113 1/3 innings on the year. Three-game losing streak aside — he’s allowed five runs combined in those three losses — it was a revitalizing first half for the 31-year-old, who goes into the All-Star break with a 7-4 record, 2.86 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. If he keeps pitching like this in the second half, there won’t be many more three-game losing streaks of which to speak.
Adleman allowed four runs – three earned – and six hits with a walk and four strikeouts over five innings in a loss at Arizona on Friday. Adleman wasn’t terrible, but he was no match for Paul Goldschmidt in the fifth inning. The slugger creamed an Adleman offering for his 20th dinger. The right-hander wasn’t able to match zeroes with Zack Greinke, either, as the veteran rolled up his 11th win with seven scoreless frames. Adleman wraps up the first half with a 5-6 mark and 4.71 ERA through 84 innings across 15 starts and one relief appearance.
Bet Tonight’s Nationals vs. Reds Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Reds have dropped five of Adleman’s last six starts and are 1-4 in their last five home games against a left-handed starter. The Nationals, meanwhile, are 6-2 in their last eight games versus the Reds, are 5-2 in their last seven games overall, and have won four of Gonzalez’s last five road starts.
