Red Sox vs. Orioles Pick
Can the Boston Red Sox bounce back from Thursday’s loss to the Baltimore Orioles when the two meet up again at 7:05PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Boston is the favorite on the road, as the Red Sox are getting odds of -145 to win, while the Orioles are getting a money line of +125 to win. The over/under total for the game has been set at 9.5 runs.

Today’s pitching matchup has Rick Porcello (3-6, 4.21 ERA) on the mound for Boston to face Alec Asher (1-3, 3.77) of the Orioles. Porcello has allowed 32 earned runs this year over 68.1 innings. He has 68 strikeouts with 13 walks, but has a WHIP of 1.48. Asher is making just his fourth start of the year. For the season he has pitched 31 innings, allowing 13 earned runs with eight walks and 23 strikeouts. His WHIP is 1.23.
Baltimore took the first game of the series on Thursday, 7-5. The Orioles have won two straight and 6-of-10 meetings with Boston this season. The Orioles are 28-24 overall and 18-8 at home while Boston is 29-24 overall and 12-14 on the road.
The Orioles controlled Thursday’s game from the start, but allowed four runs in the ninth to make the game interesting late. Wade Miley pitched 7 innings, allowing 5 hits with 1 earned run and 3 strikeouts. Mark Trumbo had three hits in the win for Baltimore while Jonathan Schoop drove in three runs. Jackie Bradley Jr. led the Red Sox with a pair of hits and three RBI.
I liked the matchup for the Orioles on Thursday, but like it for the Red Sox today. Asher isn’t someone that has a lot of starting experience, so his stint on the mound today isn’t like to be long. Porcello has had some shaky starts this year, but I think he is slowly getting back to his Cy Young form of a year ago. Look for him to navigate through this Baltimore lineup and lead the Sox to a win.
