From Rotoworld: Marquez yielded two runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings in Sunday’s win over the Cardinals. Marquez struck out five and walked one on the afternoon. Both runs on his line scored via the solo home run, with Jedd Gyorko and Greg Garcia coming through with dingers in the sixth inning. Through seven starts, the 22-year-old right-hander is working to a 3.76 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. He has surrendered two or fewer runs in six of his seven outings to date. Marquez will try to keep this roll going in a road start against the Padres next time he toes the rubber.
Richard turned in a quality start but was saddled with a loss to the Nationals on Saturday. He gave up three runs in six innings but saw his offense get shut out by Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals’ bullpen. Richard gave up 10 base hits, including a two-run homer by Michael Taylor in the sixth inning. He falls to 3-6 with a mediocre 4.33 ERA and even worse 1.43 WHIP. He has 50 strikeouts in 68 2/3 innings spread over 11 starts.
