PITCHING MATCHUP

The pitching matchup tonight has Luis Castillo on the mound for the Reds to face Trevor Williams of the Pirates. Castillo allowed six runs and six hits over five innings in a loss to the Nationals last week. Williams pitched six hitless innings against the Tigers on Sunday to get his first win. He did walk five.

PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION

The public betting for this game is backing Pittsburgh. The Pirates are getting 60 percent of the wagers on this contest as a home underdog against the Reds.

KEY INJURIES

Scott Schebler is questionable for the Reds due to a sore left elbow. He has sat out the past three games for Cincinnati. Pittsburgh doesn’t have anyone new listed on the injury report for today’s contest.

BETTING STRATEGIES

The Pirates won the season opener on Thursday night, 5-2. Pittsburgh got four runs in the fifth inning on Gregory Polanco home run and a triple from Corey Dickerson. Polanco finished the game with three RBI while Dickerson and Josh Harrison each had two hits. Steven Brault improved to 2-0 on the season by going five innings and allowing just one run with four strikeouts.

Homer Bailey took the loss for Cincinnati after allowing five runs and seven hits over 4.2 innings of play. Adam Duvall drove in the lone earned run for the Reds on a solo home run, his second of the season.

I am surprised to see the Pirates as an underdog at home today when Castillo struggled so much in his first start. Williams looked good against the Tigers and the Reds haven’t exactly been lighting the scoreboards up to start this season. I will take my chances with Pittsburgh, which has shown an ability to win close games thus far.
