The pitching matchup for tonight’s game has Joe Biagini (1-6, 4.26 ERA) on the mound for Toronto to face Tyson Ross (1-0, 3.18) of the Rangers. Biangini lasted just one inning in his last start, allowing seven runs on eight hits to the White Sox. That jumped his ERA up nearly one run. He has 48 strikeouts and 13 walks this season and a 1.16 WHIP. Ross is set to make just his second start of the season. His first outing saw him go 5.2 innings and allow two runs on two hits against the Mariners. He had five strikeouts with three walks.
Toronto took the first game of this week’s series, 7-6, on Monday night. Texas followed that up with a 6-1 win on Tuesday. Texas is now 35-35 overall and 21-16 at home. Toronto is 34-36 overall and 15-19 on the road.
A four-run first inning allowed the Rangers to roll to a win on Tuesday night. The Rangers chased Francisco Liriano after 4.2 innings. He allowed seven hits and five runs while taking his third loss. Nick Martinez went 6.1 innings for Texas, allowing just one run on two hits to get his second win of 2017. Adrian Beltre drove in a pair of runs and had his second home run of the season to lead Texas. Carlos Gomez and Nomar Mazara also homered in the win.
Biagini has to make another road start after getting lit up in his last outing. He faces a Texas team that has a lot more potential with Beltre back in the mix. Ross doesn’t have a lot of experience on the mound this year, but his first start was promising. I think he can build off of that tonight against an inconsistent Toronto team.
