MLB Predictions: Will the Rangers stay hot vs. the White Sox? 8/17/17

White Sox vs. Rangers Pick

Can the Chicago White Sox put up any fight when they go on the road to face the Texas Rangers tonight at 8:05PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Texas is favored tonight, as the Rangers are getting odds of -155 to win. The White Sox are listed with odds of +145 to prevail, while the over/under total for the game has been set at 11 runs. Chicago has actually won two of three meetings with Texas this season.

The pitching matchup today has Tyson Ross (3-2, 7.11 ERA) on the mound for Texas to face Reynaldo Lopez (0-0, 3.00) of the White Sox. Lopez has one start this year, allowing two runs over six innings against the Royals. He has six strikeouts with three walks. Ross has allowed at least three runs in his last three starts. He actually has given up 17 runs over his last 12.2 innings of work. Ross has 29 strikeouts with 25 walks this season and a 1.55 WHIP.

The Rangers are coming off a three-game sweep of the Tigers at home and they have won six of their last seven games. Texas is 59-60 overall and 33-27 at home. The Rangers are posting 5.02 runs per game while allowing 4.80 per contest. Texas is being led by Elvis Andrus, who has 33 doubles, 23 stolen bases, 16 home runs and 64 RBI. Nomar Mazara is adding 21 doubles, 15 home runs and 77 RBI.

The White Sox have lost four straight coming into today, including a pair of games against the Dodgers. Chicago is now 45-72 overall and 20-41 on the road. The Sox are putting up 4.31 runs per game while allowing 5.06 per contest. Jose Abreu is leading the team with 32 doubles, 22 home runs and 72 RBI. Avisail Garcia is adding 13 home runs and 57 RBI while hitting .307.

Bet on White Sox vs. Rangers

The pitching matchup seems to favor the White Sox as Ross has really been a mess on the mound. However, Texas has been mashing the ball lately and I think that can continue against Lopez. With Beltre back in the mix, Texas’ lineup has become one of the strongest in baseball. Chicago just doesn’t have the bats to compete with Texas.
