MLB Predictions: Will the Rangers upset the Angels? 9/2/17

Rangers vs. Angels Prediction

Can the Texas Rangers manage another win at home over the Los Angeles Angels when the two meet up again tonight at 7:15PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Angels are a slight road favorite tonight, as Los Angeles is getting odds of -115 to win. The Rangers are listed with a money line of +105 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 11 runs.

The pitching matchup tonight has A.J. Griffin (6-5, 5.26 ERA) on the mound for the Rangers to face Ricky Nolasco (6-12, 5.09) of the Angels. Nolasco has been struggling most of the season and has allowed 17 runs over his last five starts. Nolasco has 124 strikeouts with 47 walks and a 1.45 WHIP. Griffin has given up six runs over his last 8.1 innings of work. He has 52 strikeouts this season with 24 walks and a 1.33 WHIP.

Texas opened the series on Friday with a 10-9 victory. The Rangers have now won three straight meetings with the Angels. Los Angeles is now 69-66 overall and 31-35 on the road. Texas is 67-67 overall and 36-29 at home.

The Rangers grind out a 10-9 win in an offensive battle on Friday. Cole Hamels only lasted five innings and gave up four runs, but Tyler Skaggs lasted just two innings and gave up six runs for the Angels. Joey Gallo put up his 37th home run of the season for Texas while Elvis Andrus drove in three runs for the Rangers. The Angels were led by Albert Pujols, who had four hits and four RBI. Mike Trout also had a pair of hits and scored two runs.

Bet on Angels vs. Rangers

Both teams had to dig deep into their bullpens on Friday. The Angels used nine different arms while Texas handed the ball to six different players. That should play a big role tonight, as neither starter is one to count on. The Rangers seem in better shape with their pitching at home, as the Angels don’t have many arms to turn to today. Texas was able to hit the ball well and will continue to do so tonight at home. I like the Rangers in a small upset.

MLB DAILY PREDICTION: TEXAS RANGERS +105
