MLB Predictions: Will the Rockies upset the Indians? 8/8/17

Rockies vs. Indians Pick

Are the Cleveland Indians too heavily favored when they play host to the Colorado Rockies tonight at 7:10PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Indians are the clear favorite tonight, as they are getting odds of -240 to win. The Rockies are listed with a money line of +200 to win, while the over/under total has been set at 7.5 runs. Colorado won two prior meetings with the Indians at home earlier this year.

Today’s pitching battle features German Marquez (9-4, 4.11 ERA) on the mound for Colorado to face Corey Kluber (9-3, 2.77) of the Indians. Marquez has been pretty good, but still has allowed multiple runs in his last seven starts. He has 100 strikeouts with 33 walks this season and a 1.30 WHIP. Kluber has been the ace for Cleveland and is coming off a complete-game, 1-run effort against the Yankees. Kluber has 172 strikeouts with 28 walks and a 0.95 WHIP.

Colorado is coming off a loss to the Phillies, but the Rockies have won three of their last four games. Colorado is 64-48 overall and 29-27 on the road. The Rockies are putting up 5.29 runs per game, while allowing 4.85 per contest. Colorado is being led by Nolan Arenado, who has 34 doubles with 25 home runs and 98 RBI. He also is hitting .317. Charlie Blackmon is adding 24 hits, 25 home runs and 72 RBI.

The Indians come in losing two straight to the Yankees and five of their last seven overall. Cleveland now stands 59-50 overall and 30-26 at home. Cleveland is scoring 4.86 runs per game while giving up 3.98 per contest. The Indians are being led by Jose Ramirez, who has 34 doubles, 18 home runs and 56 RBI. He is also hitting .317. Edwin Encarnacion is adding 22 home runs with 64 RBI.

Bet on Yankees vs. Indians

I understand that Kluber is on the mound and that is why Cleveland is heavily favored, but the Rockies are a very dangerous team. Colorado’s lineup is as dangerous as anyone in the league and Marquez has pitched quite well. Colorado actually has a better record with Marquez on the mound this year than Cleveland does with Kluber. I just think Colorado is too big of an underdog to pass up.
