Tigers vs. Indians Pick
Will the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians get to 10 runs when these two open their weekend series tonight at 7:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Indians are the clear favorite to win, as they are getting odds of -210 to win, while the Tigers are listed with a money line of +185. The over/under total for this game is set at 9.5 runs. The Tigers have won five of nine meetings with the Indians this season and these two are 5-3-1 with the under in those nine games.

The pitching matchup today has Jordan Zimmerman (5-6, 5.58 ERA) taking the mound for the Tigers to face Carlos Carrasco (9-3, 3.50) of the Indians. Zimmerman has been struggling all season and has allowed at least three runs in his last three starts. He has 65 strikeouts, 29 walks and a 1.47 WHIP this year. Carrasco is coming off a 7-inning, 1-run effort against the Tigers last week. On the year, he has 103 strikeouts with 26 walks and a 1.05 WHIP.
The Tigers are coming off a series win over the Giants at home this week. They hit the under in all three games of the series. Detroit is now 38-46 overall, 15-26 on the road and 43-36 with the over. Detroit scores 4.79 runs per game while giving up 5.02 per contest. Detroit is being led by Justin Upton, who has 21 doubles, 15 home runs and 54 RBI. J.D. Martinez is adding 14 home runs and 31 RBI.
The Indians suffered a surprising series loss at home to the Padres. They are 6-2-1 with the under in their last nine games. Cleveland is 45-39 overall, 19-23 at home and 49-30 with the under. The Indians are averaging 4.80 runs per game while allowing 4.05 per game. Cleveland is being led by Jose Ramirez, who has 27 doubles, 16 home runs and 45 RBI. Edwin Encarnacion is adding 18 home runs and 47 RBI.
I have little doubt that Carrasco should have a pretty good outing tonight against the Tigers. He should get plenty of strikeouts and keep the Detroit hitters at bay. Cleveland will be able to get some baserunners on Zimmerman, but I don’t expect them to blow the game open. Cleveland only produced four runs in Zimmerman’s last start against them. While the Indians should win tonight, I don’t expect 10 runs to be scored.
