Rangers vs. Tigers Pick
After having their 10-game win streak snapped on Saturday, will the Texas Rangers avoid a losing streak when they take on Detroit Tigers tonight at 8PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Rangers are favored on the road, as they are getting odds of -130 to win, while the Tigers are listed with a money line of +110 to prevail. The over/under total for the game is set at 8.5 runs.

The pitching matchup tonight has Matt Boyd (2-3, 5.18 ERA) on the mound to face Yu Darvish (4-2, 2.76) of the Rangers. Darvish has won his last three decisions and the Rangers have won his last five starts. He has allowed just 18 earned runs over 58.2 innings. He also has 61 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.09. Boyd is coming off a 2.1-inning outing where he allowed 7 earned runs. He has given up 24 earned runs in 41.2 innings of play and has 30 strikeouts with 21 walks. His WHIP is 1.61.
The Rangers took the first game of the series on Friday, 5-3. Detroit followed that up on Saturday with a 9-3 win at home to snap the 10-game win streak of Texas. The Rangers are now 23-21 overall and 7-13 on the road while Detroit is 21-20 overall and 12-9 at home.
The Tigers showed a lot of pop at the plate early in Saturday’s game. Alex Avila, Miguel Cabrera and J.D. Martinez went back-to-back-to-back over the fence in the first inning. Nicholas Castellanos added a three-run home run in the third and Avila would also have a two-run double. The team chased A.J. Griffin after just 3.1 innings, giving him his first loss. Justin Verlander lasted seven innings, allowing three runs and four hits with five strikeouts.
The Tigers were able to jump out quickly on Saturday, but I don’t see that happening today against Darvish. Detroit will continue to be without Victor Martinez and Ian Kinsler also may not play due to a hamstring injury he suffered on Saturday. Detroit can’t count on Boyd much. The team has lost his last three starts, as he’s giving up plenty of runs and hits. His ERA over those three starts is 7.31. Darvish has been much more consistent and should lead Texas to a win.
