Tigers vs. Indians Prediction

Should the Cleveland Indians have any difficulty beating the Detroit Tigers to claim their 19th straight victory on Monday night at 7:10PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Indians are heavily favored at home, as they are getting odds of -325 to win. The Tigers are listed with a money line of +285 to win, while the over/under total has been set at 8.5 runs. For the run line, Cleveland at -1.5 runs is listed with -180 odds while the Tigers +1.5 is at +155.

The pitching matchup for tonight’s game has Myles Jaye (1-0, 0.00 ERA) on the mound for the Tigers to face Carlos Carrasco (14-6, 3.53) of the Indians. Jaye has appeared in two games for the Tigers, but yet to get a start. He has pitched 5.2 scoreless innings, including 3.1 scoreless innings against the Indians. Jaye has two walks with no strikeouts. Carrasco has been rolling, allowing just two runs over his last 23 innings of work. Carrasco has 192 strikeouts with 40 walks this season, to go along with a 1.07 WHIP.

The Indians are now on an 18-game winning streak as they make a push toward getting home field in the AL playoffs. The Indians are 87-56 overall and 39-29 at home. The Tribe are putting up 5.05 runs per game while allowing just 3.60 per contest. Cleveland is being led by Jose Ramirez, who has 47 doubles with 25 home runs and 70 RBI. Edwin Encarnacion has added 34 home runs with 88 RBI.

Detroit has lost its last two games and eight of its last 10. The Tigers are 60-82 overall and 28-44 on the road. Detroit is averaging 4.68 runs per game while allowing 5.39 per contest. The Tigers are being led this season by Nicholas Castellanos, who has 27 doubles, 21 home runs and 85 RBI. Miguel Cabrera is adding 21 doubles with 15 home runs and 59 RBI.

Bet on Tigers vs. Indians

Carrasco has been able to dominate the Tigers this season, posting a 2.14 ERA over five starts in 2017. Today he gets to face a Detroit lineup that is far inferior to the ones he has been pitching against earlier in the season. Cleveland is as hot as anyone has been all season and I would expect the Indians hitters to be able to get to this first-time starter while continuing to get great pitching. Feel comfortable taking the Indians on the run line.
