Can the Baltimore Orioles salvage a split with the Detroit Tigers when the two close out their weekend series today at 1:35PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Orioles are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -130 to win, while the Tigers are listed with a money line of +120 to prevail. The over/under total for the game has been set at 11 runs.

Today’s pitching matchup has Anibal Sanchez (3-1, 5.83 ERA) on the mound for the Tigers to face Ubaldo Jimenez (4-7, 6.56) of the Orioles. Sanchez hasn’t been the best on the mound, but can still be competitive. He has 59 strikeouts on the year with 19 walks and a 1.49 WHIP. Jimenez has actually been quite surprising in his last two starts, allowing just three earned runs over 13 innings. On the season, Jimenez has 94 strikeouts with 48 walks and a 1.52 WHIP.
The Tigers took the first two games in this series, 7-5 and 5-2, before Baltimore bounced back on Saturday night with a 5-2 win. The Orioles now sit at 54-56 overall and 34-23 at home while the Tigers are 51-58 overall and 24-33 on the road.
Detroit took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of Saturday’s game behind a two-run home run from Justin Upton. It was his 21st of the season. However, Baltimore would answer with three home runs in the game to get the win. Adam Jones, Welington Castillo and Tim Beckham each had a solo home run in the win. Wade Miley wasn’t able to get the win on the mound, but he pitched five innings and allowed just two runs. Drew VerHagen didn’t take the loss for Detroit either, but had a similar line, allowing two runs in five innings.
This is a tough call. Both pitchers have been a mess and both have shown some ability to put together a strong outing. Overall, I feel like Sanchez has shown a touch more consistency on the mound. Jimenez has really been lit up on occasion while Sanchez has managed to post mostly competitive starts for his team. If he can do that today, I think Detroit will find a way to win with their bats against Jimenez. Detroit has actually been playing well this week, so wrapping up a series win would put a nice bow on things.
