Tigers vs. White Sox Prediction
The Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox take a second attempts at trying to kick off their respective seasons when they meet up today at 2:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Tigers are listed as the slight favorite on the road, as they are getting odds of -120 to win, while the home White Sox are getting odds of +110 to prevail. The over/under total for the game is listed at 7.5 runs.

The Tiger have Justin Verlander, their ace, taking the mound today. He is coming off another tremendous season, going 16-9 in 2016 with a 3.04 ERA and 1.00 WHIP while racking up 254 strikeouts. He narrowly missed winning the Cy Young, but had the most first-place votes. Verlander has a lineup behind him today that produced 750 runs in 2016. The order hasn’t changed up much with regulars like Miguel Cabrera and Ian Kinsler leading the way. The Tigers will be without J.D. Martinez, who is battling a Lisfranc ligament sprain in his foot. Martinez had 22 home runs and 68 RBI last season while hitting .307.
The White Sox have Jose Quintana taking the mound today. The left-handed pitcher was 13-12 last season with a 3.20 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. He recorded 181 strikeouts. His Sox weren’t exactly big on run support, as they produced just 686 runs. Chicago still does have some big pop in their bats with Jose Abreu and Todd Frazier, who combined for 65 home runs and 198 RBI.
I like the Tigers in today’s game, as Verlander was pretty strong against a similar White Sox lineup a year ago. He won his last two starts against Chicago, going seven innings in both starts. Quintana is a solid pitcher in his own right, but he is a lefty facing a right-handed dominant batting order in Detroit. The Tigers have the stronger lineup of the two as well, so I think Detroit finds some key home runs and gets the win.
