Tigers vs. Angels Pick
Can the Detroit Tigers pick up another road win over the Los Angeles Angels when the two meet up tonight at 10:07PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Angels are the favorite at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -130 to win. The Tigers are listed with odds of +120 to prevail, while the over/under total for the contest is set at 8.5 runs.

Detroit is putting Jordan Zimmerman (3-1, 6.21 ERA) on the mound tonight to face Matt Shoemaker (1-2, 5.21) of the Angels. Shoemaker has given up multiple runs in each of his seven starts. While his ERA is high, his WHIP is just 1.34. Zimmerman hasn’t been great either. He has given up at least three runs in each of his last five starts. He has just 20 strikeouts with a WHIP of 1.53.
The Tigers were able to open the four-game series on Thursday with a 7-1 victory. Detroit is now 17-16 overall and 8-9 on the road while the Angels are 17-20 overall and 10-7 at home.
Detroit got great hitting and pitching in Thursday’s win. Michael Fulmer went seven strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits with seven strikeouts. The bullpen, which has been shaky, pitched two scoreless innings. Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning, which he needed. Ian Kinsler was back in the lineup and he had three hits while Justin Upton hit his seventh home run of the season, driving in three.
Neither pitcher should give his team much confidence, but the Tigers should come in feeling good about their bats. They may also get J.D. Martinez to make his season debut tonight, which only makes them stronger. Having Kinsler at the top of the order makes Detroit a much better team. I trust their lineup to produce more than Los Angeles right now. I think both pitchers will allow base runners, but the Tigers should get the key 2-out hits.
