Twins vs. Red Sox Pick
After a pitcher’s duel on Monday, will the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox struggle to score runs again tonight at 7:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Red Sox are the clear favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -200 to win, while the Twins are listed with odds of +170 to prevail. The over/under total for the game is listed at 10.5 runs.

The pitching matchup in this game has Drew Pomeranz (6-4, 4.07 ERA) pitching for the Red Sox to face Hector Santiago (4-6, 5.26) of the Twins. Santiago has been a mess most of the season. He has allowed 38 earned runs over 65 innings. He has 47 strikeouts with 28 walks and a 1.43 WHIP. Pomeranz has been having improved starts, allowing two runs or less in seven of his last eight outings. On the year he has 82 strikeouts with 25 walks and a 1.37 WHIP.
Boston took the opening game of this series, 4-1 on Monday night. The Sox have won three straight over the Twins and the two have split the over/under total in their four meetings this season. The Red Sox are now 42-34 overall, 23-13 at home and 38-34 with the under. Minnesota is 39-35 overall, 23-10 on the road and 38-31 with the under.
Monday’s game saw Chris Sale get his 10th win of the year, going 6.1 innings while allowing just four hits with nine strikeouts. His bullpen then had 2.2 perfect innings. Jose Berrios took his second loss of the season. He went 6.1 innings and allowed four earned runs on eight hits. Mitch Moreland homered and drove in two to lead Boston while Dustin Pedroia and Mookie Betts each had two hits. Minnesota was led by Chris Gimenez, who had a solo home run.
Today’s pitching matchup is much different than yesterday’s. Both guys have an ERA over 4 and their WHIP’s are a little higher than desired. Still, Pomeranz has been allowing few runs over recent outings. While Santiago will likely struggle with this Boston lineup, I don’t see the Twins lighting up the Boston pitching. The Red Sox can’t hit the over on their own, but won’t get much help from Minnesota.
