Twins vs. Royals Pick
After splitting a pair of games on Saturday, will the Minnesota Twins or Kansas City Royals grab a win in Sunday’s 2:15PM ET meeting?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Royals are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -120 to win. The Twins are listed with a money line of +110 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 10 runs.

The pitching matchup this afternoon has Hector Santiago (4-7, 5.37 ERA) on the mound for Minnesota to face Travis Wood (1-2, 6.28) of the Royals. Santiago has been struggling, allowing 15 earned runs over his last 11.2 innings. He has 49 strikeouts with 30 walks this season and a 1.43 WHIP. Wood has made 25 appearances in relief this season, but is making his first start of 2017. He has allowed 20 earned runs over 28.2 innings of work and has 21 strikeouts with 18 walks and a 1.81 WHIP.
The Royals have won two of three meetings in this weekend series. They took the first two games, 8-1 and 11-6, before the Twins got a 10-5 win last night in the second game of a doubleheader. Kansas City is now 40-40 overall and 23-19 at home. Minnesota is 41-39 overall and 25-14 on the road.
In Saturday’s first game, the Royals rallied from a 5-1 deficit to win. Mike Moustakas hit his 22nd home run in the win while Alcides Escobar and Alex Gordon each had three RBI. Miguel Sano had his 19th home run in the loss for the Twins. Game two on Saturday saw the Twins rack up 14 hits while the Royals committed three errors. Sano delivered his 20th home run and drove in three to lead the Twins while Eddie Rosario had five hits. Jorge Soler and Eric Hosmer each drove in two for the Royals in the loss.
The Royals are favored, but they can’t feel good about Wood making his first start. He has struggled in his short relief appearances, so I can’t imagine a start is going to go very well. Santiago hasn’t been good either, but he still has some examples of respectable starts. The Twins should be able to hit the ball early, which will allow Santiago to settle in. This game could be high-scoring, but I like the Twins to score a few more.
