Mariners vs. White Sox Pick
Can the Seattle Mariners get a good performance from their ace and pick up a road win over the Chicago White Sox when these two teams meet tonight at 7:10PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Seattle is the favorite on the road, as the Mariners are getting odds of -145 to win, while the White Sox are getting odds of +130 to prevail. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 9.5 runs.

The pitching matchup today has Felix Hernandez (4-3, 4.44 ERA) pitching for Seattle to face Derek Holland (5-9, 5.01) of the White Sox. King Felix has largely struggled since returning from injury, but he pitched six scoreless innings against the Athletics in his last start before the break. He has 46 strikeouts with 14 walks over 50.2 innings this season and a 1.46 WHIP. Holland has really struggled entering the break. He has allowed at least five runs in five of his last seven starts. His ERA has gone from 2.37 on May 27 to 5.01 now. He has 78 strikeouts with 38 walks this season and a 1.52 WHIP.
Seattle won the first game in this weekend series on Friday, 4-2. Seattle is now 2-3 against the White Sox in 2017. The Mariners improved to 44-47 overall and 17-25 on the road with the win while the White Sox fell to 38-50 overall and 19-19 at home.
Friday saw James Paxton give Seattle another good start, allowing just two runs over six innings. He had nine strikeouts to move to 8-3 on the season. Jake Shields wasn’t terrible, but gave up four runs over six innings to fall to 2-2. Robinson Cano hit his 18th home run of the season and drove in three to lead the Mariners in the win. The White Sox were led by Avisail Garcia, who had two hits and scored both runs.
Holland has struggled for the last six weeks, but his performances at home are still largely good. He is only 2-4, but has a 3.12 ERA in seven starts in Chicago this season. While King Felix had a good start against Oakland, I am not sure that means he is back to his old form. He still is struggling to have efficient innings. The Mariners as a team haven’t been very consistent this season either, so I like the White Sox to get the upset behind a good start at home from Holland and some timely hitting against Hernandez.
