Latest from Rotoworld: Berrios allowed two runs on six hits over six innings in Sunday’s win over the Angels. Berrios struck out four and walked two in what was a respectable — if unspectacular — outing. Solitary runs scored against him in the third and fourth innings, but he otherwise kept the scoreboard clean. Through five starts covering 32 2/3 innings, the 23-year-old right-hander is pitching to a 2.76 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 31/10 K/BB ratio.
Samardzija notched just his second victory after allowing two runs — one earned — and striking out 10 in seven innings Monday against the Brewers. Samardzija fanned 10 and walked none tonight. It’s the sixth time already this season in which he’s managed at least eight strikeouts without walking a batter. All he has to show for it is a 4.29 ERA, but at least that’s been coming down steadily.
