In the Tigers’ victory on Tuesday, Nick Castellanos hit a two-run home run and drew a walk. He hammered White Sox starter Jose Quintana for homer in the second inning, after JaCoby Jones slugged his first career long-ball a couple of batters earlier. Justin Verlander also struck out 10 batters over 6 1/3 innings in the win.
Quintana was lit up in his 2017 debut, allowing six earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in the loss. Melky Cabrera was one of the few bright spots for the White Sox, as he doubled twice in the loss. His first double plated Tyler Saladino in the bottom of the first inning, although he was thrown out trying to reach third base on the play.
