Twins 2011 Season Odds & Preview
(The Spread) – Based on their win total odds for 2011, oddsmakers must think that the Minnesota Twins will take a step back in 2011.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, the Twins’ over/under total for wins in 2011 is 87. Seeing as how they won 94 games and took home the AL Central crown in 2010, it appears as though the oddsmakers don’t favor Minnesota in 2011. Let’s take a look at their offseason moves.
Offseason Additions: Although they’re not additions, the Twins managed to re-sign pitcher Carl Pavano to a two-year contract and re-upped with Jim Thome and Jason Kubel on one-year deals. The club also signed 26-year-old Japan Pacific League player Tsuyoshi Nishioka to a three-year deal. He’ll play shortstop for the Twins this season.
Offseason Losses: The team failed to bring back Orlando Hudson, J.J. Hardy, Nick Punto, Brendan Harris, Jose Morales, Matt Guerrier, Jesse Crain, Jon Rauch, Ron Mahay, Brian Fuentes, Rob Delaney and Randy Flores. Hardy and Harris were traded to the Orioles in exchange for Jim Hoey and Brett Jacobson.
2011 Outlook: The name of the game for the Twins is health. If stars Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau stay healthy, then the sky’s the limit for this club. The problem is that there’s a ton of uncertainly around Morneau at the start of the season and the Twins lost a couple of big arms in the bullpen. Will Joe Nathan return to form after missing all of last season? Will the club wind up trading Francisco Liriano? There’s just too much uncertainty when it comes to the Twins, which is reflected in their over/under win total odds.
